Kitty Glamour Shots from today when I was taking pictures of a pair of granny booties for my Etsy Shop, Sasparilla Greenleafs. This kitty is my boyfriend's roommate's, he is a Bengal Cat, named Ravi. He has such beautiful eyes! The sunshine through the window was actually much better suited for shooting Ravi. Miao Bello!

Its so beautiful here, the weather is gorgeous here in Northern California. For the last couple days I went to Napa visit my mom. The weather there was gorgeous: warm, hazy, windy, slightly cloudy and a bit humid. Kevin and I went hiking this morning with my brother. He brought a kite. It was so fun to fly on top of a beautiful green hill.
I took some photos that I will develop soon. We got back to San Francisco this afternoon, and the weather was just as beautiful here! Must go to the beach while it lasts !

I was browsing Trendland tonight and I came across these beautiful wallpapers from Rachel de Joode. Her kaleidoscopic photos reminded me of some of the photos in Time Life Books' The Art of Sewing, published in 1975. I have collected two volumes: Decorative Techniques and Traditional Favorites. The books contain craft projects with detailed instructions on sweing projects, knitting and crochetting, embroidery, quilting, applique, and more. I only wish more of the photos in the books were so kaleidoscopic!

i know i haven't posted here in a long time, but i'm back. today my boyfriend accompanied me on a thrifting adventure. we are opening a storefront soon. kevin will be operating his workshop for PIGEON, his new clothing line that is set to launch in spring 2011, and I will be slangin' my vintage finds. our store will be called Stockholm, after Stockholm Syndrome, because the space (at Folsom and Langton) was one of the places where Patty Hearst was held when she was kidnapped by the Symbionese Liberation Army (stockholm syndrome).
i'm trying to build my collection of treasures for the store, so here are some of my finds from today. we went down to the salvation army on 26th and valencia. that salvation army is great because the racks are almost always packed. tons of amazing things are hiding in the racks. i used to find some amazing shoes there but i haven't seen that many rad shoes lately. :( i gotta get out of the city to thrift a little more...i'm dying to get out to the thrift town in hayward.

we also went to the out of the closet that is just down the street from our house at 9th and folsom. i got these pants there. the fabric is amazing. its linen with totally rad amazing art deco women and scenes and the color is amazing, but the cut is definitely not that great, but the fabric is so amazing that i had to make a purchase. i was planning to take them apart and make them into a tote bag but they look so pretty against the window that i might try to make curtains instead. i dunno
this is a blouse i got at salvation army, a floral crepe piece. nicely sheer as well... it also came with a matching skirt, at first i thought the skirt was wack but i managed to transform it into a dress!!

i was not originally planning to attend until yesterday when it was announced that the party will be free for staff. originally staff tickets were $25! sooo totally did not want to pay money to my work to hang out there, but i will definitely do it free, free party...so i got a dress on my credit card. cheep

Oh how I love the SPRINGTIME

My sweet lover and I spent Sunday in GG park at the polish festival and looking at Amish Quilts at the De Young. They were really surprisingly psychedelic.

These are some shoes I found thrifting this morning I spent a few hours in Precita Park enjoying the sunshine and took pictures of them in the grass for my ETSY. I also brought some wine...

I guess this is what the park looks like through my wine glass.

These next two are from Tyrone's Birthday Party a few weeks ago. Decorations, and my roommate Sara coming descending the staircase to the backyard.

I made a Kitty Litter Cake for dessert. The lil poops are made of melted tootsie rolls. Gross right!?> :) It was actually very good.

Recipe for Kitty Litter Cake

Ingredients:

1 box of cake mix of your choice. (i used yellow cake cuz thats what they had at the store i went to, but it would be really awesome to use that rainbow chip cake mix...)

1 package of vanilla creme sandwich cookies

1 package of vanilla jello pudding instant.

1 package of tootsie rolls.

first prepare the jello according to the box. then prepare the cake mix according to the box. in the meantime food process vanilla creme sandwich cookies. take 1/8 of the cookie crumbs aside and food process them with green food coloring. another thing you can do while the cake is to heat the tootsie rolls. i unwrapped mine and put them in foil in the oven, but if you have a microwave that might be easier, not for too long just a lil bit like maybe 10 seconds, then mold them into little cat poops once they are supple enough. once the cake is done and cooled, put it in a bowl and crumble it up, you can use your fingers. add the jello or maybe not even all of it and half of the non green cookie crumbs and mix it all together with a spoon. you are supposed to press this mixture into a real fresh kitty litter pan with liner and serve it with a kitty litter scooper, but i thought that might be too repulsive, so i used a casserole dish. next, sprinkle the remaining cookie crumbs on top of the cake mixture and strategically place tootsie rolls so that the dish looks like a litter box. finally, sprinkle the green cookie crumbs on top around the tootsie rolls. this is supposed to represent the clorophyll that is apparently in kitty litter.

Some finds from Salvo today. I didn't end up buying the white shoes with multi color weave though, because they weren't my size, but they would make some nice summer kittens...I did score a sweet floral shorts onesie that I'm going to alter a little, needs to be more revealing... I also got a very interesting vintage brown cropped trench/blazer. It still needs a belt, but it was interesting enough to buy for sure, I'll figure something out for a belt...I also got some rad saltwater style gladiators. man oh man will it ever be summer in San Fran?!? who am I kidding,,,never,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,not till November?!?

I also visited the Palace of the Legion of Honor today. I went mainly to see the Cartier exhibit, and it was pretty and sparkly. There were so many Diamonds and so much gold. I had no idea about Cartier's clocks and Vanity Cases, and they were soo amazing. I wish I had taken photos. There were a lot of guards in the Cartier galleries. I also saw some amazing pieces: the Duchess of Windsor had a tiger bracelet, whose tail wrapped around her wrist custom made; Maria Felix the Mexican actress had a really unique alligator (crocodile?) necklace made, two with precious yellow diamonds on one, and the other made of emeralds set in gold. Wow. crazy. Grace Kelly's jewelry was also very simple and beautiful.

Purification T Shirt

I painted a tshirt tonight, i finally had some creative energy. The image was inspired by this book I have by L. Ron Hubbard, called Purification: An illustrated answer to drugs. It's a very weird book and has some really interesting and weird illustrations. I haven't read the book or tried the program but i think that it probably works maybe I am not sure. I just like the illustrations.

The tshirt is inspired by the above image's reverse image, which depicts the man in 1968, taking LSD. His head is surrounded by a similar cloudiness.

The text reads:

"LSD can lodge in the body tissues--mainly the fatty tissues--and stay there for years and years after a person has taken it"

the page also features the same rectangular diagram of the enlarged representation of the body tissue.

There is also a quotation on the bottom of the page:

"Even after coming off drugs, there were times i felt high--a floating feeling which reminded me of a time i was high on pot. Another time i felt a little like nausea, like when i was drunk on rum."

Hmm interesting.

the peach orchard is awesome and a part of akira kurosawa's Dreams, its so beautiful, its amazing, no! pretty neat. you can watch it on netflix instant view. its a bunch of short films and its real good and a few are real pretty but some are darker but still very interesting and poetic.

i got a new dress at painted bird!
i traded for it it was 100.00 but it is beautifull! now all i need are some really fancy parties to go to or i need for it to be new years!

so my blog has suddenly changed directions in a major way.ss

i just wrote this note to myself.

you, i need to wake up tomorrow morning and change the direction of my blog completely. from now on it will be pictures of the interiors of my room, how they change or stay the same, how things come and go.

back to my new blog transition, i am fascinated by the way i arrange things and i love looking at them and analyzing them, seeing how my organization of objects is affected by my subconsciousand other non obvious things that go on within the brain or mind. there is so much going on, and it is so visually interesting also, in terms of the visual symbols that are so unique to me.

so here goes, some photos i've taken in the last few years i've taken of my interiors. i love them, please look take a long look, it is so absurd, right

This morning a hummingbird awaked me. At first I didn’t believe that it was a hummingbird at all, I thought it was all a vastly elaborate scheme within a sleeping part of my wildest dreams, perhaps accessory related through certain exotic imagined renderings of South American odyssey festivities and swirling dresses in scarlet, canary, and indigo. Perhaps this hummingbird was simply an animated, beating, buzzing and breathing symbolic necklace. I never once believed it might be a potential reality. It was!

Hummingbird was tapping at my windowsills, in this gloomy cloudy winter. There are snowflakes on my window, made of brightly colored paper, compliments of many. Beauty!

tonight i got punched in the face by some asshole who thought he could steal from me or something. i don't really know what he was after. he certainly didn't get anything from me. i hit him with my umbrella and he ran away. so did i. next time it's 2 am and i'm heading home alone, i am surely taking a cab.

in other news, i got a job at the moma as a temporary visitor services attendant. if i can find a more stable place here in the city, i plan to obtain a more permanent position there. the pictures from this post come from some places that i've seen around the city as well as from a poster, that i found on the street outside of my temporary sublet. if everything falls through, it's off for me to mexico, for as long as i can stay.!!!!

it's almost christmas time and i am getting excited. san francisco is not entirely exciting to me at the current time, i'm not entirely inspired all of the time, i am starting my job at the moma tomrrow, so maybe it will be more exciting/interesting after that. people are beginning to put up christmas decorations allready. i want to make a batch of tom and jerrys and enjoy some nutty christmas cookies. yumz

i wanted to start a street fashion blog, but i don't really have the patience to do so; nor do i want to ask people if i can take their pictures all the time; i also lack the fashion consciousness. maybe i could start and icon blog, showing off all of the iconic looking people that i spot. but really, i was just happy to get this user name, and i really want to use it. the bottom line is, i just want to use this blog to post pretty pictures in. perhaps i will figure out something meaningful to focus on later.

my roommate is always having her friends over and drinking a lot and drawing. i've partaken in this activity a few times now, and last night i drew this! it was fun and i continued it this morning.
